Sous les Palmes is run by David and Hélène, who let three holiday houses directly. This page explains what happens to the details you give us, and what you can ask us to do with them.

What we collect

When you send an enquiry through this website, we receive:

We do not ask for anything else, and there is nothing else to fill in.

Why we hold it

We use these details for one purpose: to answer your enquiry and, if you go ahead, to arrange your stay. In the language of the GDPR, this is the taking of steps at your request before entering into a contract, and our legitimate interest in replying to people who write to us.

We do not send marketing, and we do not sell or share your details with anyone for their own purposes.

Who else sees it

Three companies process data on our behalf, and only to provide their service to us:

Vercel is based in the United States, so hosting involves a transfer outside the European Economic Area. That transfer is covered by the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

Google is deliberately not on that list, because it would not be acting on our behalf. It is only involved if you choose to load a map, and then on its own terms — see below.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiries for as long as it is useful to remember a conversation with a guest, and no longer than three years from your last contact with us. Enquiries that lead to a stay are kept with the booking records for the period French law requires.

What you can ask for

You may ask us to show you what we hold, correct it, delete it, restrict what we do with it, or send it to you in a portable form. You may also object to us holding it at all.

Write to us and we will do it: bonjour@souslespalmes.fr

If you are not satisfied with how we respond, you can complain to the CNIL, the French data protection authority, at cnil.fr.

Cookies and the map

This website sets no cookies of its own, and uses no analytics and no advertising. That is why you were not asked to accept anything when you arrived.

Each villa page can show a Google map, and it does not load by itself. Nothing reaches Google until you press "Show map". If you do, Google receives your IP address and may set its own cookies under its own privacy policy, and that is a transfer outside the European Economic Area. If you never press it, Google is not contacted at all.

Pressing it once is remembered for the rest of your visit, so maps on other villas open without asking again. That preference is kept in your browser's session storage and disappears when you close the tab. It is the only thing this site stores in your browser, and it records nothing about you beyond the fact that you agreed.

The "Open in Google Maps" link is an ordinary link: following it takes you to Google, but nothing is sent while it merely sits on the page.

Changes

If we change how any of this works, we will change this page and update the date shown above it.
